XML
Why is it important?
XML is the building block of most code. Content providers are expected to manage translation of content and most translation tools use XML. Technical writers should be able to troubleshoot at the code level if a simple problem arises.
DITA
At PSU I took a technology course to learn about DITA from the different roles of operation:
- information architect
- writer
- editor
- system admin
- publishing specialist
- translation coordinator
XLIFF
Translating content is expensive and time consuming. Instead of waiting a long time for translation teams to deal with your content, a few steps can be taken to package. This ultimately saves time and money. It also ideally allows for less errors along the way! I created a tutorial on how to leverage XLIFF, a few steps are shown below.
